In medical area, the quality of an image which is acquired from mammography often has a poor contrast. The poor quality image leads a difficulty for a radiolog to analyze the image. The problem becomes more complex when the image contains some noises on a cancer or tumor area. There are many methods in image processing technique to increase the contrast quality of an image. Some of them have applied fuzzy theories in their methods. This research intend to implement and to compare some of fuzzy contrast enhancement methods such as fuzzy histogram hyperbolization and the improvement of fuzzy if then rules in the mammography images. To determine the success rate, this experiment had tried to compare these methods using quantity parameters such as linier index of fuzziness, fuzzy entropy and also some radiologs’ opinion. The result showed that although fuzzy histogram hyperbolization offers slightly better result to improve the contrast quality than the improvement of fuzzy if then rules, but the radiolog rather tend to choose the improvement of fuzzy if then rules due to flexibility of this method.
